| Capt. Steve Haeusler moved to Destin in 1970 and began fishing
in 1973 at the age of 13. He began as a deckhand/mate, and learned
all types of fishing from some of the best Captains in Destin.
He continued fishing through college until he graduated from
The University of West Florida in Pensacola in 1985, with
a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting. It was in 1986 that
he began his career as a Captain on the charter boat, Phoenix,
then purchased his first boat, the Cutting Edge, in 1992.
In 1993, he began a partnership with Capt. Kelly Windes,
and became the Captain on the First Light. In 2005, he became
sole owner of the First Light and continues as Captain.
Captain Steve and his crew strive to
make every fishing trip on the First Light a "trip to remember".
